Access to UCR

  • Any HE student or staff member of the combined RNN colleges can get full access to the fabulous resources, both print and electronic, available at the UCR Library.
  • If a non-HE Student wishes to access an item held at the UCR, then they must ask for it to be reserved for them at any of the libraries Clifton/DVC/DC/NNC that they can access, and it will be transferred for them. During holiday periods, FE students may be able to use the facilities if other FE libraries are closed. Please check posters or call in advance to see which library is available to you. 

British Library Reading Room at Boston Spa https://www.bl.uk/visit/reading-rooms/boston-spa

The British Library has a reading room at Boston Spa in Wetherby which is about an hour away on the A1. If you wish to use it you will need to register for a reader pass in advance and you can ask for up to ten items (per day) from the British Library lending collections to be brought there in advance of your visit. Make sure you give plenty of notice as the minimum pre-order time is 48 hours.

Access to Hull University Library

Student access to Hull University library requires you to be on a HE course validated by Hull University that has agreed access to the library and you will need a Hull University student card. Obtaining the card is the responsibility of your tutor so if you want to visit, please speak to your tutor.

Access to Sheffield Hallam University Library https://libguides.shu.ac.uk/visitors

There are three categories of access, SHU affiliated HE students, general college students between 16-17, and 18+ visitors.

  • SHU Affiliated HE Students: - These are HE students whose course is validated by Sheffield Hallam University. If you have a Sheffield Hallam University student (SHU) card then the following applies to you. You can use the facilities of the university library as long as you have your SHU card with you. That card will grant access to the library 24 hours a day and the loan of up to 5 books. You will however only be able to use the visitors PCs, which allow access to a restricted range of resources, rather than the SHU normal PCs.
  • General College students(16-17):- RNN Students between the ages of 16 and 17, can use the SHU facilities for reference, but you must take both your college ID card and proof of age.
  • Anyone 18 and over:- Anyone over the age of 18 can access the SHU library by becoming an Associate Member. If you don’t want to borrow books but just want to consult the collection for reference that is free, if however you wish to borrow books you will have to pay £30 per year.

Access to Clifton Library, DVC Library and NNC Library 

  • Any student or staff member of the combined RNN colleges can get full access to the fabulous resources, both print and electronic, available at the campus Libraries.
